Actors of All Ages Sought To Bring 'Seussical' To BLT Stage
Bucyrus Little Theatre will host auditions for all ages Sunday, January 28 and Monday, January 29, 2024, for its spring production of "Seussical the Musical."
Director Cindy Light said she is hosting auditions earlier than usual to accommodate the large cast and to provide actors with the extra time necessary to learn the large musical numbers.
According to Light, area youth interested in participating in the production will audition on the same dates as adult actors. However, those ages 8-16 are asked to audition 5-6:30 p.m. Auditions for those 17 and older will take place 6:30-8:30 p.m. Those auditioning will learn the song "Oh the Thinks You Can Think" as well as a short choreographed dance. Following initial auditions, some individuals may be asked to attend callbacks for casting purposes. Callbacks will take place Thursday, February 1, 2024.
Those interested in being a part of this large musical production are also asked to bring their schedules for the months of February, March, April, and May. This is necessary for the creation of an effective rehearsal schedule that will best accommodate any work, sports, vacation, and extracurricular conflicts that those auditioning might have scheduled. Audition attendees are also asked to provide the casting committee with measurements for costume purposes, including height and shirt, pant, and shoe sizes. This information can be presented to the casting committee on the day auditions take place or audition forms can be completed in advance. The youth audition form is available here. Audition forms for adults are available here. Or, you can visit the show page at www.bucyruslittletheatre.com/seussical-the-musical-2024 for information.
Show Synopsis
The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie LaBird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.
