Professional Actor To Instruct Series Of Eight Acting Master Classes
For more than 25 years Scott Leon Smith has made his mark around the country as a professional actor and voice artist. This year, he will take the Bucyrus Little Theatre stage in the role of Master Class Instructor when the theatre presents Smith’s Master Classes In The Craft Of Acting series. The series will kick off in March and will allow students at all skill levels to immerse themselves in topics that include auditioning best practices, comedic performance, voice and movement, character development, and more.
“As one of Scott’s former students, I can’t fully express how valuable these classes are to actors of all skill levels,” said Abigail Kanellakis, Bucyrus Little Theatre board president. “The way he breaks down each topic and connects with his students is empowering. I had the opportunity to take his lessons back to the stage in 2024, and can tell you without a doubt, my stage presence and range saw immediate improvement.”
Get Ready To Take The Stage
The Master Classes In The Craft Of Acting series is open to actors ages 15 and older. There are no prerequisites and students can decide on their level of participation. Each class is $25/per student and will be presented as a stand-alone three-hour workshop. However, discounts are available when you pre-enroll in multiple classes.
“The techniques and mindsets that make up the foundation of acting are useful in any profession and for any endeavor,” said Smith. “My classes promote the development of a creative process and a reinvestment in that process for every project you take on, artistic or otherwise.”
Meet Your Acting Instructor
Smith has worked as a professional actor and director for nearly 25 years. He earned a Master of Fine Arts in Acting at West Virginia University, where he studied under alumni of the American Conservatory in San Francisco. He went on to hone his craft in Chicago as a part of “A Crew of Patches,” a traveling theatre company that performed Shakespeare for students. Most recently, Smith portrayed Sweeney Todd in the Bucyrus Little Theatre production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
